First time landlord please help

We have tenants in our house as we could not sell. 12 month AST with break after 6 (recommended by our agent) he signed the agreement then moved girlfriend and kids in without her signing anything permission wise to be there. We were not aware Of this until month 5 when we did a check up visit on property. Because of this visit we also had a call to our agent from illegal sub tenant to advise she was there and not girlfriend and kids, however he was still there.. We said nothing on the visit and invited him to branch to discuss the claim of the sub tenant and ask why girlfriend had not signed necessary forms. House was on the internet for rental of spare room.

He got aggressive by all accounts with local branch and head office of agency. Put his notice in the day before the meeting and has now said he is moving on Monday as this is the 6mon break point. Has detailed in an email that we are the reason he has ended the tenancy and we have left him without a cooker. (We think the element has gone but he will not answer the phone to agency to allow us to book an appointment to go check and repair). Did alternations on the property with our written consent which stipulated he would get no money back from us. But now wants half the cost, as he cant live there because of us. We have not been in touch until month 5 and he has ended the tenancy not us.

I have to do visits tomorrow after sending a letter stating I would be entering to property as it is up for relet with agents. Im scared, can anyone help or advise
