My tenant reported that the timer on the boiler was not working and they had to use the boost button to get hot water. It was arranged for an engineer to go and inspect the boiler. He duly did and reported back with actions to be taken. The repair was then carried out ASAP. The tenant is now asking for compensation and wants the cost of their rent back for the period covering the repair of this problem. They were always able to get hot water and at the worst had to wait a while whilst the water was heated using the boost button. Am I obliged to give compensation?
