Multiple occupancy

I have  a tenant who has been excellent for over a year in a one bedroom flat. However she has just informed the agent that she now has her husband and their eleven year old son moved in with her. They have clearly joined her from abroad. I will of course make sure they are here legally, but I am concerned as to whether three of them living in a one bedroom flat is legal? Does anyone know? The living room is spacious, the bedroom is smaller. Because she has been such a good tenant I would like to keep her, but I am not sure about having three people living there instead of one. Does anyone have any advice?
