Transitioning Bills Between Tenants

Questions & AnswersCategory: General QuestionsTransitioning Bills Between Tenants

Hi I recently became a landlord and my first tenant has now left and a new tenant has moved in. I am wondering if you have any advice with regards to bills. All bills were addressed to and paid by the previous tenant. I have informed the council regarding the change to council tax liability but what (if anything) do I need to do about the utilities and phone/cable? How can I be certain the new tenant has had these bills changed over to his name? If he doesn’t make this change who is ultimately responsible?
Thanks
F
