Return of pre paid rent

Questions & AnswersCategory: Legal ObligationsReturn of pre paid rent
Ann O'Neill Chandler asked 1 year ago

Due to broken boiler that needed replacing the tenant was unhappy with the timescale of 10 working days for a replacement to be fitted.  After offering extra kettles/urn to heat water and rent compensation the tenant was still not happy. The alternative was to release him from the contract without notice which the tenant chose to do.  The tenant is now asking for a repayment of the rent, for the days of the month paid for, after vacating (10 days).  Is the Landlord legally obliged to return rent for those 10 days?
